Mark Recchi has been placed on waivers. This is intresting considering his cap hit is only at 1.75 mil per season. This allows many teams to swoop in and grab the struggling veteran. He's been a healthy scratch in 8 of his last 9 games and has only registered 2 goals and 6 assists in 17 games. Careful though JFJ, do not get your fingers greasy with this one. I think he'd be a decent signing to push for 7th or 8th place, but that should not be our goal. We need youth, and signing him would take a step backwards.
My prediction is Calgary takes him.

Why do you think Calgary? They already have Owen Nolan to fill the over-the-hill veteran role, lol.
They're in a slump. And acquiring a player with a tiny chance of getting 50 points would be nice. They can afford it and it won't hurt them for the future.
In case you haven't heard, he's cleared waivers. Now the Pens have the option of sending him down or buying him out.
The Pens can also send him on re-entry waivers. A team could get half his salary ( 900K) and according to Ek, a team told the Pens they will grab him.
Actually Atlanta take him from the re-entry waivers !
